Ditch the chalk test method, its for the noobs and usually does not result in a good pressure to be at as you have found out. Pick a pressure you like, say 28 cold, buy a tread depth tool and monitor the wear. Adjust as needed.

Drew a nice big fat chalk line all the way across the front and rear. At 60 PSI (cold) all around drove about 75-100’ and the line wore almost perfectly all the way across both front and rear. There was just a tiny amount of chalk on the outer edges (barley) front and rear.
