In the backward method, in order to compute the gradient of the loss with respect to w_b, I therefore need to backpropagate through cudnn_convolution_backward_input. If this is undesirable, you can try to make the operation deterministic (potentially at a performance cost) by setting torch.backends.cudnn.deterministic = True.
