You'll need to reseed the tank to prevent the dinos from returning. you'll also need to control the cyano with something also. The reseeding if successful, will fill in the biological niche the dinos and cyano was in.

I've been battling something for a few weeks now and I want to know if it is dino or cyano. It has bubbles in it (if that is not clear from the pics below). The tank parameters are normal (alk 8, pH 8.1, calcium 425ppm, nitrate less than 5ppm, phosphate near 0 according to Salifert).
WebJun 12, 2024 · Looks like cyano but there is some dino that can look similar. You can do the jar test, it's not as good as microscope but it will tell you if you have dino's. Get a clean jar. Take some tank water and run it through paper towel into the jar (water should be clear) Put lid on and shake. Place jar in ambient light for up to 24hrs. WebMay 17, 2011 · First it is Diatoms, second The bubbles are gases that are getting released from the sand bed and getting stuck in the slime, if that makes any sense lol. there are O2 bubbles from the Diatoms not the sand, as Diatoms are photosynthetic. High flow that is for * trying to control Cyano not Diatoms.
