WebCouncil’s standards of proficiency for speech and language therapists. We first published standards of proficiency for speech and language therapists when our Register opened in July 2003. We published revised standards in 2007. We review the standards regularly to look at how they are working and to check whether WebKids might see a speech therapist once a week or a few times a week. Treatment can take a few weeks, a few months, or a few years. If you have speech problem, the best advice is to practice, practice, practice. Find time to work on the skills the therapist has shown you. Maybe spend some time before bed practicing in front of a mirror.
